I’ve gotten a few search hits from people wondering how to “autohide desktop icons on Vista.” Here’s how you do it:
- Right-click on the desktop
- Click “View”
- Uncheck “Show Desktop Icons”

The sidebar is temporarily broken because the combined bugginess of Wordpress and K2 have arbitrarily erased my sidebar and prevented me from restoring it. I'll probably fix this tomorrow.
