Actually, scratch that. The lyrics this widget turns up tend to be full of misspellings and errors. No good.

I just want a central database of accurate song lyrics, approved by the artists and/or publishers of the music that I'm listening to. I want iTunes to connect to that database and automagically get any lyrics that I'm missing. Are you listening Apple?

It looks like I've found a similar solution for Windows, a Yahoo Widget called iTunes Companion. There's a more recent version on the Widget website (http://homepage.mac.com/knut/iTunes_Companion/home.html). It seems to work pretty well.

I still wish that Apple would just include lyrics and all other metadata in their database. But this is almost as good.

sorry: 2 comments are poor form. It worked quickly. I don't know if I have to each time, but it worked after I double clicked the face of the widget, which I did out of frustration because nothing seemed to be working. It could've been working but there was no little thing telling me it was working. But I now have lyrics and they are in the lyric field on the iTunes info window.

http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/music/singthatitune.html
Sing That iTune is a dashboard widget that does that. It is supposed to automatically put the lyrics into your song's info window. I know it used to do that, but I had an old version and because of your post, I have FINALLY upgraded. I hope it works. There used to be a couple of other widgets that did this. Back in the days of early widgets.
